• Monoi, meaning "scented oil" or "sacred oil"—Mono'i in Tahitian—is a beauty product obtained by macerating Tiare Tahiti flowers in refined copra oil. (Copra is the dried albumen of the coconut.)

• Monoi is a traditional product from the islands of French Polynesia. In Europe, it is primarily used as a tanning oil to prevent skin dehydration from the sun, though it does not protect against ultraviolet rays (UVA and UVB). In Polynesia, conversely, it is used as a massage oil to nourish the skin and oil the hair.
